We all know how uncomfortable hair can be in areas
where it is no supposed to appear. For women, it is frustrating to look
in the mirror and to find hair in the mouth, chin, breasts, etc.
Sometimes this problem is associated with metabolic or hormonal alterations like in the case of polycystic ovary diseaseor in hormone-producing tumors that stimulate hair growth. This is known as hirsutism. Those cases should always be consulted with the physician to establish their cause and to stop abnormal hair growth.
In most cases, this problem is caused by race or hereditary factors, not necessarily related to a condition or disease. Depending on the racial or hereditary background we can find an exaggerated growth in areas where it should grow less. This is called hypertrichosis.
Hair growth caused by hypertrichosis or hirsutism can be successfully treated with laser technology used in depilation, where the necessary energy is condensed in order to damage or eliminate the hair follicle in a light ray, which allows removing the hair permanently.
The energy the ray emanates is absorbed by melanin, that is, the hair color, and is transported to the hair follicle where it finally condenses and the hair disappears.
The most frequent reasons for depilation are aesthetic factors to reduce or eliminate hair that is not considered beautiful. The bikini, moustache or legs are usually the main areas of concern since the modern woman has less time for shaving: shaving wax or to use painful and short-term effect techniques.
Thanks to the development of technology and medical advancements, we can achieve better results using the laser.
Tips for laser depilation:
- Remember that the hair cycle lasts close to 22 days. So, each session must be 22 days away form the other.
- Since this technique uses high-energy lights, you should not expose to the sun before or after each session.
- The number of sessions to completely eliminate the hair varies according to its quantity and thickness.
- When you are going to use laser, you should not use shaving creams to discolor the hair or remove it with clips.
- If your hair is white you will need more sessions to fully eliminate it.
